The entry slalom test for working as a ski instructor in France. Combine the Test Technique with a BASI level 2 and you can work as a trainee instructor in France.
ENDORSED BY BASI, THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF SNOWSPORT INSTRUCTORS.
![]()
The Test Technique training programme is headed by Emma Carrick-Anderson, one of Britain's finest ever female ski racers. Emma competed at no less than 4 Olympic Games, 6 World Championships and numerous World Cups, was 11th in the '97 World Champs, Britain's top female Alpine Racer for 15 years and a calibrated opener for the Eurotest. Emma knows what it takes to 'reach the level'.
If you have previous racing experience this should be high on your priority list to supplement your BASI level 2 as you can be guaranteed work as an instructor in France. Skiers with no previous slalom experience may still attend the Test Technique training weeks but should be aware the Test Technique pass level is high and may require numerous weeks of training. You may wish to speak to Emma directly to discuss your requirements. Emma can be contacted via our UK office.
Training
Training is Monday to Friday for a
minimum of 4 hours
of on-snow work in the gates or alternative training if weather does
not permit with regular video analysis. Every Friday a comprehensive
race is run with electronic timing and pace setters to replicate the Test Technique as close as possible and prepare mentally to achieve optimum
performance.
Fitness and Preparation
Emma is a
qualified fitness coach. Her knowledge combined with experience of
training in the National Squads will ensure your fitness won't let you
down. A fitness programme on 3 afternoons per week is included whilst
training and Emma will also be free to advise on fitness throughout the
year leading up to your training. The fitter you are the better chance
you have of reaching the level.
Required Level
Membership of BASI or an
equivalent ski teaching organisation is required. No previous race
training experience is required although the more race training
experience you have the better chance you have of achieving the level.
In cases where course participants have no or little race training
experience our standard iSKI Race courses may be more appropriate in the first instance. Please contact Emma for advice.
