New for 2009 'Summer Weekend Skiing' in Tignes and Les Deux Alpes. Holiday is so important that it's just impossible to get away summer skiing as all that precious holiday time is either eaten up during the winter or taken up heading to Chile and Argentina in August. So here's the answer. Take off the afternoon on Friday and all day Monday and you can be out in the Alpes for three days skiing.

A.T. Performance Course
If you are really keen to take your skiing into a new level then investing in some time out of season could be the way forward. Skiing at this time of year allows you to totally focus on developing new skills in preparation for the winter. You can develop all the movements and skills required for skiing the whole mountain. Both Tignes and Les Deux Alpes are fantastic training grounds during the summer months. Skiiing is from early morning to midday so get ready for some early starts! Then in the afternoon the ski resort comes alive with activities.
The Resorts
Conditions can vary during the summer so we can't promise powder and sun! You never know what the conditions will be so get ready for a surprise! We've had powder in september, ice in august, perfect compact snow in july. Sun, wind, rain, snow, hot and cold. What we can promise is that we will be out skiing from the moment the lifts open to the moment they close getting the most out of the skiing and time available.
Tignes in the summer
In the summer months the skiing is up on the Grande Motte. Tignes spend the winter making sure they get as much snow on the glacier as possible. If you've been skiing in Tignes during the winter you'll notice all the furrows that stretch across the glacier. This is to trap ass much snow as possible in preperation for the summer months. The Rossilin double T-bar opens for business plus the 3,500 double T-bar, the Champagny and the Grand Motte cable car. They've moved the Vanoise so if the snow is good they may even use this and the Lesse during the early summer period.
New last year is the magnificent aqua centre, the lagoon. This incompasses a gym, swimming pool and saunas. There are so many activities available in the afternoon including, golf, mountain biking, tennis, walking, sailing to name a few. River rafting and Hydro on the Isere River is a must. A short journey to bourg St Maurice and your into some fabulous rapids. Also if you have a head for heights then the Via Ferrata in Val D'Isere is also a must.

Les Deux Alpes in the summer
New for us last year and we were very impressed. During the summer months Les Deux Alpes comes alive. It's a hive of activity. Les Duex ALpes is one of the largest glaciers in Europe for summer skiing. The Jandri express takes you up to the glacier at a height of 3,200m. From there you have a few lifts. Puy-Salie 1 & 2 that serve a large expanse of area ideal for race training and technical performance. You can sometimes ski down to the Roche Mantel. and higher up on the glacier above Puy-Salie you have another lift, the Lauze. There is a fantastic snowpark served by it's own lift.
Like Tignes Les Deux Alpes comes alive in the afternoon with activities. This is a mountain Bike heaven. There is also a fantastic swimmiing pool and again both the river rafting and the hydro on the River Veneon is a highlight and for those with a head for heights the Via Ferrata.

Accommodation
Tignes
Accommodation in Tignes is in the Hotel Gentiana. The Hotel is situated in Tignes Le Lac and run by Serge and his wife Nadia. A relaxing informal atmosphere with excellent food.
