FOR NOVICES /INTERMEDIATES / ADVANCED / EXPERT & PRO SKIERS
Whether you're a novice, intermediate or experienced skier – at Snoworks we're driven by a desire to help every skier realise their skiing potential by making sure you know how to make the most of your time on the slopes and in the mountains, discovering how and where to find the best skiing experiences and developing the tools to ski competently in the mountain environment.
We want you to love skiing as much as we do!
Courses are available to all skiers from our level 3 (intermediate easy Red run skiers) to experts (level 6 ski everywhere). With numerous groups of varying levels every week from intermediates to experts you're sure to find something suitable. During the season we also have a few courses suitable for Novice skiers (level 2, blue runs) and weeks dedicate to elite skiers (level 7). See descriptions below.
WORKING OUT YOUR LEVEL
For maximum enjoyment of your on-snow experience you need to be skiing with other skiers of a similar level. At Snoworks we often have between 4 to 6 groups of varying ability levels running every week. This means we can cater for a wide selection of ability levels, making sure your on-snow experience is not left to chance.
We’ve described below the type of skier you may be and listed these in levels from 1 to 7. We recognise that it can often be difficult to say exactly the type of skier you are or the level you’ve reached, so a rough judgement is all that is required.
When you call our office we’ll help you choose the best and most suitable course. Our office can also patch you directly through to our on-snow team of instructors to discuss your level directly. They will also chat to you in the resort on the evening before the course starts and you can even move levels during the week up and down as required.
Check your level against the descriptions below.
For PRO Levels, click here includes BASI levels 1, 2, 3 (ISIA), 4 (ISTD), Test Technique, Eurotest, FIS Race Training
BEGINNERS - NO SKIING EXPERIENCE
If you’ve never skied before unfortunately our courses at present do not cater for you. However we can still advise what’s best for you and recomend ski schools and instructors in the resort so you can still come on holiday with other skiers that are taking a Snoworks Ski Course.
If there are a number of you with no experience we may also be able to tailor-make a group or arrange a One to One (private) group.
NOVICES - COMPETENT ON BLUE RUNS
You are competent skiing Greens and Blues.
Even though you're not quite up to the minimum level for most of our courses we still have a couple of weeks that we've dedicated to your level. If you want to come on another week where we do not have a course for your level we can still advise you on suitable ski schools and instructors in the resort, making it easy for you to come with friends who may be taking Snoworks courses.
If there are a number of you at the same level we may be able to tailor-make a group or arrange a One to One (private) group.
FITNESS: An average level of fitness is required for a level 2 course. If you feel you fitness level is low and you find the going a little too much we can source suitable iinstruction in the resort and use the ski course fee you have paid to Snoworks. We will still ensure you get a great skiing and learning experience.
INTERMEDIATES - COMPETENT ON RED RUNS
Your entry into the Snoworks Ski courses programme and a whole new world of skiing.
This is where your journey into All-Terrain can start. You may have reached that level which is commonly known as the 'Intermediate Plateau'.
You can ski all the Blues and Reds providing the terrain is well pisted, with good visibility and good snow. But you begin to struggle when the terrain becomes more variable. Ice starts to appear, bumps begin to form, the terrain become steep, crowded or narrow and visibility goes.
This is the big change and where Snoworks is in a class of its own. You’re moving from what we call the ‘closed’ environment into the ‘open’ environment - From terrain which is constant and predictable to terrain which is varied and unpredictable. It's our speciality.
Welcome to All-Terrain Level 3. Call and book now. Your skiing is about to change forever.
FITNESS: An average level of fitness is required. If you feel you fitness level is low we suggest you select a week where level 2 courses are also running. Then if you find the level 3 group is too much you can always drop into a level 2 group and still develop your skiing in line with your aspirations.
ADVENTUROUS INTERMEDIATES - COMPETENT ON EASY BLACKS
Welcome to the world of all-mountain skiing and new experiences. Level 4 is your entry into almost the whole Snoworks Ski Courses programme and a whole new world of skiing.
Being an adventurous intermediate you can happily ski most black runs. You are now keen to take your skiing to a whole new level. You’re ready to begin learning to tackle more difficult Blacks, steeper slopes, off-piste, bumps, ice, ski faster with more control and cope with variable snow and terrain. Even ski more competently in bad visibility.
You’ve come to the right place. Snoworks has literally redefined the art of all-mountain skiing - so ‘open your mind’ to a whole new world of skiing.
NOTE: If you are unsure if you are a level 4 and are worried about being at the right level, choose a week where All-Terrain Level 3 courses are also running. Then you can move between the different level groups as required.
FITNESS: A reasonable level of fitness is required. If you feel you fitness level is low we suggest you select a week where level 3 courses are also running. Then if you find the level 4 group is too much you can always drop into a level 3 group and still develop your skiing in line with your aspirations.
ADVANCED - COMPETENT ON ALL BLACKS AND MODERATE OFF-PISTE
You can ski Blacks whatever the conditions at a reasonable speed. You can also ski competently moderate off-piste, bumps and moderate steep slopes off-piste. You can get around most places pretty well on and off-piste.
You’re now looking for exciting new experiences and to go to places you would not go by yourself with other skiers of a similar level under expert guidance. At the same time you'd like to learn new skills and to develop your skiing to cope with more varied terrain. For example when the off-piste becomes difficult, the slopes become steeper, bumps become bigger and hopefully when the powder snow becomes deeper.
Welcome to Advanced all-mountain skiing with Snoworks. Ski more, learn more, experience more and enjoy your skiing more then ever before.
NOTE: It may seem a big jump from 4 to 5. You may have some off-piste experience but may still feel that you are not totally competent on moderate off-piste. So you may therefore fit our 4/5 level. We have plenty of courses for you.
FITNESS: A reasonable level of fitness is required. If you feel you fitness level is too low we suggest you select a week where level 4 courses are also running. Then if you find level 5 too much you can always drop into a level 4 or level 4/5 group and still develop your skiing and have great skiing experiences in line with your aspirations.
EXPERTS - COMPETENT SKIING EVERYWHERE ON AND OFF-PISTE IN ALL CONDITIONS
You've arrived at a level where you can competently ski everywhere on and off-piste whatever the conditions, steepness of the slope, size of the bumps and depth of the powder.
As a competent advanced all-mountain skier, you probably like to make the most of your time skiing, searching out the best snow and the best terrain, skiing with people equally as competent as yourself. Welcome to Snoworks level 6 skiing - a new experience every day.
As a level 6 skier we can provide you with exceptional skiing experiences with other skiers of a similar level under expert guidance. Now you can ski with other skiers with the same aspirations as yourself.
NOTE: It seems a big jump from 5 to 6 so you may fit our 5/6 level. A good level 5 but not quite level 6. We have plenty of courses running so we will have a suitable group for your level.
FITNESS: A reasonable level of fitness is required. If you feel you fitness level is too low we suggest you select a week where level 5 ourses are also running. Then if you find level 6 too much you can always drop into a level 5 or level 5/6 group and still develop your skiing and have great skiing experiences in line with your aspirations.

ELITE - COMPETENT SKIING EVERYWHERE ON AND OFF-PISTE IN ALL CONDITIONS WITH A HIGH FITNESS LEVEL
You are a competent all-mountain skier (level 6) with a fitness level to ski hard and fast all day everyday.
Can’t find anyone your level? Welcome to Snoworks level 7.
We recognise the better you get, the harder it is to find people to ski with and share those experiences. So on certain weeks throughout the season we’ve dedicated Ski Courses to level 7 skiers.
CAN'T FIND A LEVEL 7 COURSE FOR THE DATE YOU REQUIRE?
You can still book on any week where there are level 6 courses running. We're pretty sure you will still gain an exceptional amount from your weeks skiing. Level 6 skiers are competent to ski everywhere on and off-piste. So you'll still have amazing skiing experiences with other expert skiers under expert guidance.
PRO COURSES FOR LEVEL 7 SKIERS
As an 'elite' skier you may also be interested in our Pro Race and Instructor Training weeks.
If you misjudge your level completely and find yourself below the minimal level described for the course or there are no other skiers that are a similar level to yourself then we may need to source alternative instruction in the resort. We will make sure you get the best available instruction for your level using the course fee you have paid.
Instruction sourced will be equivalent to the course fee you have paid Snoworks but in the case of sourcing private instruction will not be equivalent to the duration of a Snoworks Course.
