Spotlight On Caviahue Ski Resort – Argentina

New into our Chile Adventure Extravaganza Caviahue is one of the most picturesque and unspoilt ski resorts in Argentina. It also means it’s one of the lesser skied – so more off-piste for us. The village lies on the shores of Lake Agrio (also known as Lake Caviahue), and the landscape is characterized by araucaria forests, typical of the region. Simply put it’s stunning. The village, the skiing, the scenery fits into the whole ethos of Snoworks Adventure trips. Away from the ordinary, away from the crowds, experiencing local hospitality and creating experiences that last a lifetime.

There are 23 trails, including 21 runs with different levels of difficulty, plus a forest itinerary. The lift system includes 1 four-seater chairlift, 3 two-seats chairlifts, 5 T-bars, and 2 small lifts. Much smaller then some of the big purpose built Argentinian resorts. But hey, you not here to ski resorts that resemble those in Europe, that can be done in our winter. Come to South America to experience something unique, something quite different.

As part of the Snoworks programme we use added transportation on top of the lifts to get as high and as far afield as possible. This includes the use of snowmobiles and an all-terrain snowcat. With skins it’s also possible to summit Mount Caviahue and enjoy the spectacular off-piste descents.

With your Snoworks instructor as host along with your local Chilean guide and the use of snowmobiles and snowcats you’ll have unrivalled access to the off-piste skiing in this area.

We stay at Hostería Del Sauquén, a small charming hotel run by the owners Marta, Pablo and Alejandro. Click on one of the photos to enjoy the scenery.
