Japan

The land of the rising sun

For many Japan is the holy grail of skiing – endless, weightless powder  and lots of it – up to 16 metres each year.  With over 700 ski resorts and more than 80% of its landmass mountainous, there are more ski resorts than any other country in the world.  Japan is also home to the famous snow monkeys, onsen hot springs, and fantastic traditional cuisine where kimonos are the preferred evening dining attire and outdoor shoes not permitted!

We have a two centre itinerary based in the North island covering some of the best and most unique ski resorts in Japan: Niseko, simply unmissable, Rusutsu, Kiroro and three new undiscovered resorts in the Sapporo area of Asari, Kokausi and Tiene.

Japan was fantastic! Definitely exceeded my expectations, every off piste skier should go! Many thanks to Mike and Powder Pete for finding us great powder every day whatever the weather and taking us to three such different ski areas. It was the most consistently light and deep powder we have ever skied and we can’t wait to go back.
We were also glad to be skiing with experienced Snoworks coaches as there are all the usual risks associated with off-piste skiing and it’s clear that other companies offering similar trips don’t have staff with the level of experience and attitude towards safety that we have come to expect from Snoworks.”
