TIGNES – THE UPLIFT AND SLOPES
Tignes is open for skiing from the 20th June to 2nd August. Uplift to the glacier is via the Funiculair Perce Neige. Once up you have the Telepherique Grande Motte, Vanoise Chairlift and Termignon Drag Lifts (3,500). Unlike many glaciers that are relatively flat, Tignes offers a variety of terrain, more gentle slopes down lower with the steeper slopes up top. Everything you need for a great weeks training.
OFF-SNOW
As a summer resort, Tignes is unbeatable for off snow activities. In the afternoons the village comes alive. Around the lake is a hive of activity and for fitness training it’s first class. The Lagon has a beautiful swimming pool and wellness and Tignes Espace has so much choice from climbing, squash, weights and fitness along with sports hall including badminton and volleyball. Cycling enthusiasts should bring their bikes to ride the Col d’Iseran or you can hire downhill bikes and use the uplift. The uplift is available in the afternoons with great mountain bike trials (open from June 27th pending snow conditions). Tennis, canoeing, paddleboards, trampolines, basketball and slacklines are just some of the available activities. For those wishing to take it easy after a morning on the Glacier a stunning walk round the lake and a drink or two in one of Tignes bars will round the day off perfectly.
