THINKING OF COMING ON A SNOWORKS COURSE?

You will need to have an idea of your ski level. Where you are and where you want to be so you can book an appropriate course. We've therefore created a simple system to help you get an accurate idea of your level. This is based around the type of skiing you are confident to do.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW YOUR LEVEL?

Improving skiing is so easy if you are in the right environment. Not too difficult and not too easy, just right. So understanding your level is really important.

To make it really easy we've designed our level descriptions around easy to identify runs and commonly known mountain environments. The first few levels are directly related to the runs that all skiers know and ski. Greens, Blues, Reds and Blacks so it should be really easy to estimate your level.

From Blacks we then move off-piste and we've differentiated off-piste between 'Frontside Off-Piste' and 'Backside Off-Piste'. '

'Frontsiide Off-Piste' is within resort boundaries between lifts. 'Backside Off-Piste is out off the resort boundaries. It's a simple system to use. These are two phrases that many ski manufacturers now use in relation to their equipment, so they are beginning to be commonly used by skiers.

If you're a competent 'Backside Off-Piste' skier then next comes 'Steep and Deep' and lastly 'Extreme'.

Remember when reading the levels that Snoworks is for everyone that wants to improve and have great skiing experiences. it's all about joining the right group and at Snoworks we are really good at making sure this happens. Before you arrive, when you arrive and even whilst on the course itself by making it easy to move between groups.

Take a look at more detailed descriptions below and if you want to chat further, call our office. If you are a skier that can ski easy Reds for example don't be put off when reading the 'Steep & Deep' descriptions and the same vice versa. We have lots of flexibility in the resort to make sure your skiing with skiers of simiilar experience and ability.

For PRO Levels, click here includes BASI levels 1, 2, 3 (ISIA), 4 (ISTD), Test Technique, Eurotest, FIS Race Training

LEVEL 3

Ski Level 3

BLUE & EASY RED RUNS

Your entry into the Snoworks Ski Courses programme and a whole new world of skiing.

This is where your journey into All-Terrain can start. You may have reached that level which is commonly known as the 'Intermediate Plateau'.

You can ski all the Blues and some Reds providing the terrain is well pisted, with good visibility and good snow. But you begin to struggle when the terrain becomes more variable. Ice starts to appear, bumps begin to form, the terrain becomes steep, crowded or narrow and visibility goes.

This is where Snoworks is in a class of its own. You’re moving from what we call the ‘closed’ environment into the ‘open’ environment - From terrain which is constant and predictable to terrain which is varied and unpredictable. This is our speciality at Snoworks.

Welcome to All-Terrain for Red run skiers. Call and book now. Your skiing is about to change forever.

BLACK & FRONT-SIDE OFF-PISTE

It's a big jump from skiing easy Blacks with no off-piste experience to being a competent off-piste skier. You may therefore be what we call a Frontside off-piste skier. Frontside is a term many ski manufacturers now use to describe their all-terrain skis so this term is beginning to be commonly used. It's where you have some off-piste experience and are confident to ski off-piste between ski lifts within the resort boundaries where the terrain is generally more skied and often has a firm base beneath the new fresh snow.

You are at the level for most of the Snoworks Ski Course programme, You can join in all of the All-Terrain & Off-Piste along with many of the All-Terrain Safaris, Backcountry, Backcountry Access and Adventure courses. BACK-SIDE OFF-PISTE

You can confidently ski Blacks whatever the conditions, bumps, cope with ice and steeper slopes and happily ski in bad visibility. You also have the experience, confidence and ability to ski off-piste away from the resort boundaries and ski lifts. What we call 'Backside Off-Piste'. This is a term many ski manufacturers now use for their off-piste skis so the term is beginning to be a commonly used term. 'Backside' the snow is often deeper and less skied with no firm base below the surface and you are skiing untracked snow well away from the resort boundaries.

You’re now looking for exciting new experiences and to go to places you would not go by yourself with skiers of a similar ability under expert guidance. At the same time you'd like to learn new skills and to develop your skiing to cope with steeper and deeper off-piste, maybe more demanding bumps and conditions when they become tricky.

Welcome to advanced all-mountain skiing with Snoworks. Ski more, learn more, experience more and enjoy your skiing more then ever before.

FEELING STRESSED ABOUT BOOKING A COURSE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR LEVEL?
Don't. This is what we do all the time at Snoworks. It's our job and we are good at it. We will help you improve, gain confidence and enjoy your skiing whatever level you are at. Leave it to us. Just estimate your level, check that you think your fitness is ok for the course you are interested in and book a course, leave the rest to us.

OVER-ESTIMATING OR UNDER-ESTIMATING YOUR LEVEL
It's no problem if you over-estimate or under-estimate your level as we more often than not have other groups below and above that you can move into. From day 1 we encourage people to be able to move groups as necessary to maximise the learning experience and your enjoyment.

At the 'Easy Blue and Red Run' level if you over-estimate your level and find the level is too demanding and we have no groups for you to move into we are happy to arrange alternative instruction in the resort. We will make sure you get the best available instruction for your level using the course fee you have paid. The instruction will be equivalent to the course fee paid for your Snoworks course but not necessarily the equivalent duration as it may end up being private instruction. You will learn lots, improve your skiing, have fun and still be on holiday with all your friends.
