Course Details

An introduction into the incredible world of ski touring. Join us and experience the freedom and beauty of the mountains away from the bustling resort. No previous ski touring experience is required. Ski touring opens up a whole new world of skiing where you earn your turns. Ski touring equipment can be rented in resort.

This is the perfect course if you’ve never tried ski touring, or have only just begun, if you’re an experienced tourer please check out our adventure trips to Poland and the Haute Route, or our April Ski Touring course in Tignes.

What to expect from this course:

  • Ski touring training, the techniques required, how to use the kit, what to take on a day tour and more
  • Off piste ski technique
  • Touring experiences with skin durations as short as 30 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours

Essential equipment:

  • Ski Pass. We will be using the ski lifts to get to and from our ski touring training areas and day tours
  • Skis, bindings, boots and poles equipped for ski touring, please ask our resident experts for advice on what and where to book your rental equipment, as some shops will provide unsuitable equipment if you say ‘ski touring’ such as super light boots and PIN bindings.
  • Small rucksack, with all avalanche equipment and space for layers, water, and lunch (Snoworks can provide this backpack and off piste safety kit you don’t have your own)

Minimum requirements for this course:
• Skiers who are competent to ski off piste Backcountry for full days, Level 5 and above.
• Skiers who have a good level of fitness to ski all day off piste in all conditions, with a break for lunch
• Ability to get up unaided after a fall is essential

The best time I’ve had on skis! If you told me 2 weeks before I would ski what I did this week I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t thank Lee enough for guiding and organising everything on my first EVER ski touring experience.
