Backcountry Skiing In La Plagne
Smack bang in the middle of the mighty Tarentaise Valley is La Plagne. Head in one direction you’re into Les Arcs and in the other direction into Champagny. La Plagne itself is comprised of 11 interconnecting resorts including; Plagne Centre, Aime-La-Plagne, Champagny-en-Vanoise, Montchavin, Plagne Villages, Plagne Bellecote, Les Coches, Montalbert, Plagne 1800, Belle Plagnes and Plagne Soleil. Now that is some ski area! Paradiski itself comprising of all the Les Arcs, La Plagne and all the satellite villages is amongst the biggest ski areas in the world.
With introduction of La Plagne the Snoworks programme now encompasses every resort within the Tarentaise Valley.

“The skiing in La Plagne itself covers an altitude from the lowest resort at 1,250m to the highest skiing at 3,250 m on the Bellcote glacier. La Plagne has 225 kilometres of pisted slopes including 134 pistes: 15 black, 30 red and 72 blue. The off-piste skiing in La Plagne can be easily accessed with some amazing areas and combine this with the area of Les Arcs and you have some immense off-piste skiing. Take a bus up to Tignes and ski off-piste all the way back to Champagny en Haut via the Tarentaise Tour. Head up to the top of the Bellecote and take the North Face off-piste to Nancroix. Head across to Les Arcs and take the east face of the Aguille Rouge down to Villaroger. Add this to all the easily accessible off-piste from the ski lifts and you have an amazing off-piste destination. La Plagne is a Backcountry paradise”
