Course Details

Ski touring from the mountains to the Fjords. An exciting ski touring trip to the Lyngen Alps in the Fjords of Norway; land of the midnight sun and the northern lights.  This trip is for experienced backcountry skiers that like to put in the hard work to earn those off piste descents. The skiing has no lift access so it’s sweat and glory and lasting memories of an epic week.

Sample routes:
Rørnestinden – 1041 metres
You can reach Rørnestinden directly from Lyngseidet and from the top there are full views over both Lyngenfjord and Kjosen fjord. This tour has intermediate level accessibility but some parts are steeper, around 30 degrees.

Steitinden- 920 metres
The route to Steitinden starts from Sør-Lenangen. The level of difficulty is easy/moderate and it can be a good introduction to further tours in the Lyngen Alps.

Storgalten 1219 metres
A very popular ski mountain in the northern part of Lyngen. You start in Nord-Lenangen. The tracks up to the top are often well tracked and the tour takes 3-4 hours. You follow Galtdalen, on the south side of the river and pass Storgalten and Lille Galten. A choice of descents are accessible from the top.

All routes are weather dependent and will be confirmed on a daily basis.

Minimum requirements for this course:

  • Competent off piste skiers (level 5)
  • Skiers who have a high level of fitness to ski all day off piste following a 2 hour skin with a break for lunch
  • The ability to get up unaided after a fall is essential

FAQ's

I’m thinking of coming skiing by myself. Is a Snoworks course suitable for solo skiers?

Absolutely – 80% of Snoworks guests travel by themselves. This is the great thing about a Snoworks course. You can come by yourself knowing there will be many other skiers that you can ski with who are also travelling by themselves.

In fact many Snoworks clients who first came skiing by themselves have now met many other skiers that they are now friends with, it’s a great way to meet and ski with other like minded skiers.

It’s safe say this was my best ski trip ever. From stunning views of the Lyngen Alps, fabulous snow, driving along the coastline to take a boat trip to the tours to great accommodation, everything was fabulous.,There were so many special moments but taking a ferry to the little island of Uloya and getting to the top of the mountain to see blue skies, turquoise sea and dozens of little islands around, then skiing down to the shore would make the top of a ‘Bucket List’ of any skier. What was very special about this trip was the remoteness of the place, relaxed atmosphere and, at the same time, how well organised the trip was by Snoworks
